Planning your meals ahead saves time and money.  At Foothills Wellness Center we get you started with a simple, nutritious meal plan each week, that is suitable for the whole family and developed by Melissa Metcalf Le Roy an Accredited Holistic Nutritional practitioner and overseen by Dr. Joseph V. Picone who is also an Internal Health Specialist, to make healthy eating easy!

Melissa Metcalf Le Roy

Melissa Metcalf Le Roy, is the past executive director of two nonprofit organizations; Foothills Equestrian Nature Center and the US Green Building Council of South Carolina. She is very passionate about the environment and has been awarded a Master Naturalist certification by Clemson University’s South Carolina Master Naturalist program, where she devotes long hours as a volunteer. Her passion for Nature and the Environment has also driven her to develop OnFire Naturals, an all-natural, organic, native medicinal skin care line for men and women.

Melissa, a graduate of the Duke University teaches and presents non-profit management classes throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia for Duke University. She is a past board member of the North Carolina Center for Non-Profits. She is also the author of the past “Non-Profit Leadership” column for the Tryon Daily Bulletin, and offers her services as a consultant through her own firm, OnFire Nonprofit Consulting.

Melissa, currently now works at Foothills Wellness Center where she helps people heal themselves inside and out. At Foothills Wellness Center she assists Dr. Joseph Picone deliver healthy recipes, which can be seen every Monday on Carolina Kitchen. She has been awarded her CHNP (Certified Holistic Nutritional Practitioner) license and she is currently working on her certificate in Native American Health Studies through Western Carolina University.

Once very overweight and unhealthy before meeting Dr. Picone she now actively participates in road races, half marathons and Spartan Races. Her other active hobbies include Mountain Biking, Hiking and StandUp Paddle Board. In 2014 Melissa’s successfully achieved the Spartan Trifecta, competing in all three Spartan Races distances in one year. Melissa is certified in TRX, Group Fitness, Personal Training and Yoga Instruction and teaches at My Gym and Fitness in Columbus, NC and at the Pumphouse in Hendersonville, NC

A Western North Carolina native, she lives in Saluda, North Carolina with her husband Chris, and three fur babies Barry, Cali and Chandra.
